Mid day break for employees will start from 15th June

In the United Arab Emirates, on Friday, officials informed that mid-day break will be started for employees from June 15. In the UAE, it is not possible to work in the open or under direct sunlight during the summer days. This causes severe health problems for employees or sometimes even leads to death. Therefore, this rule has been implemented for their safety.

From when to when will the mid-day break be implemented?

It has been informed by the officials that the mid-day break will be applicable from 15 June 2024 to 15 September 2024. During this period, from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm, employees are not allowed to work in direct sunlight or in the open.

Will a heavy fine be imposed?

It has been informed that if an employer makes the employees work despite the ban, a fine of Dh5,000 to Dh50,000 can be imposed. If there is any work which is necessary to be done, then it is necessary to take a permit for it.
