UP Congress state president Ajay Rai has blamed the UP government for the Hathras stampede incident. He said that the Hathras incident is a failure of the UP government. CM Yogi visited Hathras and later Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak also went there. They did not go together, this shows the internal discord of the BJP. He reiterated the Congress’ demand to give Rs 1 crore compensation to the families of those killed in the stampede and Rs 25 lakh to the injured and said that we also want a judicial inquiry of the incident to be conducted by a sitting judge of the High Court.

The UP government has set up a judicial inquiry commission headed by a retired judge of the Allahabad High Court to investigate the incident. Ajay Rai also demanded that the NEET exam should be cancelled and the government should announce the date for the NEET re-examination. The Congress state president alleged that contracts are being given in UP to companies from Gujarat which are involved in illegal activities. Rai said that a Gujarat company was given the responsibility of conducting the UP Police constable exam, but the paper was leaked and the owner of the company has now fled abroad.
