Hamas calls Israeli attack that killed 70 people a planned massacre

Hamas accused Israel of carrying out a premeditated genocide after an attack in Gaza City killed 70 people.
Ismail al-Thawabta, director general of Hamas’ media office, claimed that Israeli forces directed thousands of Palestinians in eastern Gaza city to move to western and southern areas and then opened fire on them when they arrived.
UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric also condemned the recovery of bodies in Gaza city and called it another tragic example of the impact of the Israel-Hamas conflict on civilians. The UN reiterated its appeal for an immediate ceasefire and unconditional release of all hostages. Dujarric said, as long as this conflict continues, it is impossible to provide people with the medical aid, food, shelter they need and even give a dignified funeral to those killed in the war.
Ismail al-Thawabta said rescue teams have recovered 70 bodies from the Tal al-Hawa area and at least 50 people are missing. Thawabta claimed that some displaced people were carrying white flags, pointing at the Israeli army and saying, “We are not fighters, we are displaced.” But the Israeli army brutally killed these displaced people as well. The Hamas leader alleged that the Israeli army was already planning to carry out a massacre in Tal al-Hawa. He appealed to the international community to put pressure on Israel to end the war against the Palestinians. A spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that people are hungry right now. People need water. People need medical help. And this is the work we are trying to do in the middle of the war zone. Violence has also increased along the western border since Israel’s attacks on Gaza began in October.
