To protect the interests of migrant workers, some more new rules have been imposed so that the companies fulfill their rights, salary and the promises made to them. If the companies do not do so, then more stringent compensation will be provided to the workers by the companies.

If you work for a mainland company in the UAE and your employer is mistreating you, don’t panic. The laws of the UAE are in your favor and you can file a case against your employer.

What could be the wrong actions of the companies?

  1. Employing you without a work permit
  2. Promising a job but not giving it
  3. Misuse of work permit
  4. Not paying heed to the rights of the employees while closing the company
  5. employing minor children

What might affect you?

If your company makes any of these mistakes, it could face a fine of 50,000 to 200,000 dirhams. Apart from this, there are many other laws that protect you.

What can you do?

  • File a complaint: If you are being treated unfairly, you can file a complaint with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE).
  • Collective complaint: If your fellow employees are also troubled, then all of you can lodge a collective complaint.
  • Contact the Inspector: MOHRE inspectors inspect companies and detect wrongdoing. You can also ask them for help.
