Officials have informed that lanes have been set for low and high speed vehicles. Low speed vehicles will have to drive in the right lane and high speed vehicles will have to drive in the left lane for overtaking or to pass. The minimum speed limit on the first two lanes in both directions on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Road has been set at 120kph.
The maximum speed limit on these highways is 140kmph. Heavy vehicles must use the last lane of the road. There is no minimum speed limit in the last lane. Violating the speed limit rule will attract a fine of Dh400.
