Kolkata Hijab Controversy: Left government job in a moment but did not leave Islam

The courage and Islam-loving nature of a Muslim woman in Kolkata is being discussed all over the country. While people give up every culture for a job of a few thousand rupees, Professor Sanjida Kadir left her job but did not give up hijab.
Assistant Professor Sanjida Kadir of Kolkata’s LJD Law College resigned after the administration objected to her wearing hijab during class, after which there was an uproar and the administration took a U-turn and allowed Professor Sanjida Kadir to wear hijab during class. Meanwhile, Professor Sanjida Kadir has asked for a week’s time for her decision, which has also been accepted by the administration.
Let us tell you that Professor Sanjeeda Qadir had objected to wearing hijab citing the dress code of the college administration and had issued instructions to remove the hijab. Despite constant pressure from the college authorities to remove the hijab, Qadir refused and eventually decided to quit her job.
According to the report, Sanjeeda Kadir is a resident of Marai block of Birbhum district of West Bengal. She was teaching at LJD Law College, a private educational institution under Calcutta University, for more than two years. She recently started wearing hijab after Ramadan.
According to a report by The Observer Post, on May 30, Ashok Das was suddenly told by the college office staff that he was not allowed to enter the college wearing a hijab. When asked why he was banned from wearing the hijab, he said that it was a violation of our college’s dress code.
The administration took back the decision
According to reports, after the uproar over the hijab controversy, the administration reconsidered its decision on Tuesday and allowed Professor Sanjeeda Qadir to cover her head with a scarf during class. However, teacher Sanjeeda Qadir said that she has asked the college management for a week to decide whether to return to work or not.
After the matter came to light and a furore erupted, the college authorities on June 10 insisted that it was a result of a misunderstanding and that she would return with her resignation withdrawn on June 11.
According to the report, Sanjid Kadir said, “I received an email from the office on Monday, which said that I can cover my head with a dupatta or scarf while taking classes.” But I am not going to college right now. I have asked for seven days to think about it.
The college said we will wait…
Confirming that the teacher has sought time to convey her decision, Gopal Das, chairman of the college governing body, said he would wait for their final decision. He said, ‘If there is no positive response from the teacher after a week, the college can extend her leave period for a few more days, and then inform her that her resignation is a student’s resignation and cannot arise.’ He said, ‘We have said that she can cover her head with a scarf or dupatta in the classrooms and we fully respect her religious beliefs and sentiments.’
