Jabalpur: Petition against Kangana’s film Emergency in High Court, wrong portrayal of Sikhs, ban should be imposed

Jabalpur. A petition has been filed in the Madhya Pradesh High Court Jabalpur against actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming movie Emergency. On Saturday, 31 August, a public interest petition was filed by Sikh Sangat Jabalpur, Shri Guru Singh Sabha Indore demanding a ban on the film.
Senior High Court advocate NS Roopra said that in the petition filed by Sardar Manjit Singh Bhatia of Indore and Sardar Manohar Singh of Jabalpur, the High Court has been told that the people of the Sikh community all over the country are unhappy with this film.
In the film, four Sikhs are shown gunning down Hindus. They are saying We want Khalistan, Sanu we want Khalistan. Sikhs have been portrayed as gruesome and dangerous, which is completely wrong. The certificate of the film should be cancelled, it should not be made public. The petition also demands that before its release, the film should be shown to Sikh officials of Indore and Jabalpur.
Hearing on September 2, film to release on September 6
High Court senior advocate Narendra Pal Singh Roopra said, earlier a legal notice was given regarding this film, but when the notice was not responded to by Kangana Ranaut and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, a PIL was filed in the Madhya Pradesh High Court. The film’s director, producer and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting have been made parties. The petition will be heard in the division bench on September 2. Let us tell you, the film is to be released in theaters on September 6. However, Kangana has said that the film has been banned.
On Friday, the Sikh community protested in Jabalpur
Film actress and BJP MP from Mandi Lok Sabha seat of Himachal, Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film Emergency has been mired in controversies even before its release. People of the Sikh community have protested and demanded a ban on the film. Jabalpur Sikh Sangat has called Kangana Ranaut’s film controversial. Former BJP minister Harendra Singh Babbu said that Kangana used to speak very dirty even when she was not an MP. On Friday, hundreds of people took out a rally and reached the Collectorate. Here, they handed over a memorandum to the collector in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and demanded a complete ban on the film. They accused the film of damaging the image of the Sikh community.
