We are more in number, we will do whatever we want… such was the situation seen in the Municipal Corporation House today.
On Monday, a direct joke was made on the 15 lakh people of the city in the Municipal Corporation House. Where the Municipal Corporation budget, which directly affects every city dweller, was passed in just two minutes without full discussion and amendment.

On Monday evening, the debate on spitting broke out again in the Municipal Corporation. The debate was going on when BJP councilor Kamlesh Agarwal stood up and told the Municipal Corporation Chairman that the opposition does not want to discuss the budget, you should pass the budget. Before anyone could understand anything, the Municipal Corporation Chairman passed the budget on the basis of majority and ended the Municipal Corporation budget session.
Whatever happened in the Municipal Corporation on Monday, Leader of Opposition Amrish Mishra described it as dictatorship of the Municipal Corporation Chairman and murder of democracy. So the ruling party blamed the opposition for the chaos created on Monday.

The whole incident went like this…
It is worth noting that on Monday, the budget session was started by the Leader of Opposition Amrish Mishra with the issue of environmental protection. He talked about making efforts to build the proposed international stadium on the land of the telecom factory in the budget. On which everyone including the mayor showed a positive attitude. Some councilors gave their suggestions on the budget and then there was a lunch break.
After the lunch break at 4 pm, councilor Shafiq Hira stood up, after which the issue of spitting became heated again.
BJP councilor Jeetu Katare said that the leader of the opposition had asked for the CCTV footage to be retrieved. He showed a video in the House and claimed that Shafiq can be seen spitting on paper in the video. After which the councilors united and started demanding an apology. After which sloganeering started between the two sides. Amidst this uproar, councilor Kamlesh Agarwal stood up around 4.45 and demanded from the Municipal Corporation Chairman that the opposition does not want to discuss the budget, so the budget should be passed on the basis of majority. After which the Municipal Corporation Chairman Rinku Vij easily announced the passing of the budget. Immediately after which the budget session was declared closed.
By the time the Congress councillors could understand anything, the budget session had ended and the mayor, corporation chairman, MIC members walked out of the House. The Congress councillors started a sit-in in the House accusing the Municipal Corporation chairman of dictatorship.
Democracy was murdered: Tahir Ali
Syed Tahir, representative of Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Krishna Tankha in the Municipal Corporation, saidThe way the budget was passed in the Nagar Nigam today by taking advantage of the numbers is a clear violation of democratic values. As part of a pre-planned drama, the ruling party fraudulently passed the budget. All this happened at the instigation of the officers. Due to which the budget was passed for the benefit of the officers and the proposals related to public interest were stopped. We will not tolerate this dictatorship. The Nagar Nigam Chairman and Mayor have hurt the public interest today, they will have to answer for it.
