Jabalpur – Chaos over rotten ration in ration shop, entire consignment returned after protest

The wheat which even animals cannot eat is being distributed to the poor. But no one is speaking up in this matter. The poor are forced to eat the rotten ration from these ration shops.
The latest case of distribution of rotten wheat came to light in a ration shop located near Raddi Chowki Hospital. Where rotten wheat infested with insects and weevils was brought for distribution to ration card holders. But due to the activeness and alertness of the regional councilor Shafiq Hira, hundreds of card holders and their families associated with this ration shop remained safe. On receiving the information, councilor Shafiq Hira reached the spot, he immediately stopped the ration distribution. He lodged a strong objection with the departmental officials. After which the unloaded wheat was loaded back to the truck and taken back to the depot and a consignment of clean wheat arrived and its distribution will now start from Monday.
Councilor Shafiq Hira said that more than 2 dozen residents of the area had complained to him that the ration they received from the ration shop was rotten wheat infested with insects. Immediately after the complaint, I went to the shop and investigated and the complaint was true. At the same time, I called the concerned officer and lodged an objection. From the Food Controller to the District Supply Officer, everyone was talked to. After which the rotten wheat was returned. On Saturday, clean wheat came again and was distributed to the poor.

The councillor has warned the ration shop and the department in-charge that under no circumstances will rotten grains be allowed to be distributed to the poor. He and his team will now constantly monitor this ration shop and all the ration shops in the ward. If any item distributed to the poor from the ration shop is of low quality, it will not be tolerated.

What about the rest of the shops…
Today the biggest question is that the poor who take ration from the ration shop located at Raddi Chowki were saved due to the alertness of the councilor. But who will raise voice against the malpractices going on in other ration shops of the Muslim community.
