Historical moment: After the success of Chandrayaan 3, EOS 8 will be launched on August 15

New Delhi. Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) will launch its new satellite on 15th August. At 9:17 AM, SSLV-D3 rocket will take EOS-8 satellite into space from Sriharikota. This will be the third and last flight of SSLV rocket. ISRO has given this information. ISRO said that the purpose of EOS-8 mission is to make small size satellites (microsatellites), test new equipment and try new technologies for future satellites.

Special things related to EOS-8 satellite

  1. The EOS-8 satellite will orbit the Earth at an altitude of 475 km in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its inclination will be 37.4 degrees and it will operate for one year.
  2. The satellite weighs 175.5 kg and produces about 420 watts of power.
  3. The EOIR camera on the satellite will take images both during day and night. These images will be used for disaster management, environmental monitoring, fire detection and observing volcanic activity.
  4. The EOS-8 satellite is equipped with a special type of avionics system called CBSP package. It can perform many tasks in a single unit. This system has the capacity to store 400 GB of data.
  5. The EOS-8 satellite uses X-band technology for data transmission. This satellite uses a new technology for battery management called SSTR.
