A woman from Punjab also won the prize of $1 Million
Earlier in May, a woman from Punjab won a $1 million prize in the Dubai Duty-Free Millennium Draw. The lucky winner, Payal, bought ticket number 3337 online on May 3. She revealed that the money for the winning ticket came as a gift from her husband Harnek Singh on their 16th wedding anniversary.
229th Indian winner
This win was the 229th Indian citizen to win a prize in the monthly draw. Payal said that she has been buying Dubai Duty-Free tickets for the past 12 years, and often changes her name and buys tickets in her, her husband’s and children’s names.
“We live in Punjab with our 14-year-old twins. When the DDF organisers called me, I couldn’t believe it at first. I immediately called my husband to share the good news. We were both overjoyed, and I burst into tears of joy. We haven’t told our kids yet; we will share it after we pick them up from school in the afternoon,” Payal said.
