India came forward to help Palestine, sent the first installment of 2.5 million dollars


New Delhi. The war between Hamas and Israel has been going on in Gaza for months, in which thousands of innocent Palestinians have lost their lives and lakhs have become homeless who are forced to spend their lives in camps. Due to Israeli attacks, it is becoming difficult to reach help to them.
Meanwhile, India has now released the first installment of US $ 2.5 million to the United Nations agency to help Palestinian refugees.
According to media reports, the Government of India has sent the first instalment of US$2.5 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees as part of its annual contribution of US$5 million for 2024-25.

India on Monday said the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, which has run direct relief programmes for Palestinian refugees since 1950, is making efforts to maintain its functioning amid the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.
In its effort to support Palestinian refugees and their welfare, over the last few years, India has provided financial assistance of USD 35 million till 2023-24 for the UN agency’s core programmes and services, including education, health, relief and social services. At the recent UNRWA conference held in New York, India had said that apart from financial assistance, it will also provide medicines to UNRWA based on the specific request of the agency and will fulfill its promise to supply continuous humanitarian assistance to the people of Palestine in a safe and timely manner.
