New Delhi: Many visitors to the UAE have recently complained that they inadvertently extend their stay. According to accommodation agents, a major reason for this is that the grace period that was implemented in previous years has now been abolished.

Penalty for overstaying

If you overstay your visit or residence visa in the UAE and disappear without informing, you may have to pay a fine of Dh50 per day. This rule applies to all persons living there, whether they have a residence visa or a visit visa.

Procedure for paying a fine

If you have overstayed your stay in the UAE, you must pay a fine to clear all your charges. Here’s how you can complete this process:

Step 1: Visit the Federal Authority website

First of all you have to go to the website of Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security. Click on ‘Fines and Leave Permits’ on the home page.

Step 2: Start the service

You will be redirected to the next page where click on ‘Start Service’. This option will be found in the ‘Fines – Pay Fines – Violations of Entry Permissions or Residences – Pay New Fine’ box.

Step 3: Fill in the details

If you had a residence visa, you will need to fill in your details in the fields displayed. If not, click on ‘citizens of certain countries’ and fill in all the required details.

Step 4: Verify

After this click on ‘Verify Applicant’ and then on ‘Next’. You will be redirected to another page.

Step 5: Review the application

Now you have to review your application and confirm all the required details.

Step 6: Pay the fine

Finally, you will land on a page where you have to enter the penalty amount. After making the payment, you will see a confirmation of the transaction.
