25th anniversary: We not only won the Kargil war but also displayed a wonderful example of truth and restraint: PM Modi
Ladakh. On the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas, PM Narendra Modi paid tribute to the heroes of the Kargil War at the Kargil War Memorial. After this, PM Modi started the construction work of the Shinkhun La tunnel. The PM said that today this great land of Ladakh is witnessing the completion of 25 years of Kargil Vijay. Kargil Vijay Diwas tells us that the sacrifices made for the nation are immortal. Days, months, years, centuries pass, seasons also change but the names of those who sacrifice their lives to protect the nation remain indelible and immortal. This country is forever indebted to the valiant great heroes of our army.
PM Modi said that during the Kargil war, I was among our soldiers as a common citizen. Today, I have come to the land of Kargil again, so naturally those memories have become fresh in my mind. I remember how our forces carried out difficult war operations at such a high altitude. I respectfully salute such brave soldiers who brought victory to the country. He further said that in Kargil, we did not just win the war. We also gave a wonderful demonstration of truth, restraint and strength. India was striving for peace at that time. In return, Pakistan showed its distrustful face, but falsehood and terror were defeated in front of truth.
The PM said that Pakistan has failed in all its evil attempts in the past but it has not learnt anything from history. It is trying to keep itself relevant with the help of terrorism but today when I am speaking from a place where the masters of terror can hear my voice directly, I want to tell these patrons of terrorism that their evil intentions will never succeed. Our brave soldiers will crush terrorism with full force. The enemy will be given a befitting reply.
